Learn Bhutanese Astrology

Situated in the northern part of Thimpu city, approximately a 30-minute drive away, lies the Pangrizampa Monastery. It is one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan, now upgraded to the College of Bhutanese Astrology. Founded in the 16th century, it was home to the Unifier of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, in 1616.

Monks who wish to be traditional astrologers study here. Visitors can witness how astrology works in Bhutan. Some astrologers are so skilled that they can predict the exact number of rice grains clenched in your fist. Try it yourself!

Locals visit the monastery for yearly predictions on health, money, career, luck, and more. Tourists fascinated by astrology often explore this place. Additionally, photography enthusiasts will find the surroundings breathtaking.

A wooden staircase leads to the top of the temple, offering a simple and peaceful retreat. Whether or not the chapels are open, the white structure with large draped curtains is a sight to behold.
